Week 9: Read it Aloud
Did you know there are scientists who study reading? Cool, huh? And one of the things they have discovered is that: reading aloud can really help you improve your reading skills and comprehension :)
In this challenge, Christina wants you to give that a try! It’s not possible to read out loud in school, or in your book clubs - so this is a great skill to practice when you’re working on your personal reading time. Plus… your parents will love being able to listen to you while they’re getting dinner ready or doing other “parent-y” things ;)
A great way to think about reading aloud is to imagine you’re turning the book into a movie in your head! You know how they make the best books into movies? Well now you can too!
So turn your next book into a mind-movie by reading it out loud . A couple things to remember when you’re doing this:
It’ll feel funny at first, keep at it ;)
Pace yourself, don't read too slow, but don't read too fast either!
Add the character voices and make the book & characters come alive!
Comment below which characters are the most fun to voice as you practice this week 🙂
As always, if you need book suggestions, hop on over to our FB group and ask!
